FAQ
Glasses
Q: Why is there no display when I plug in the glasses?
A: Firstly, please confirm whether the computing unit is in the sleep mode (indicator light in blue);
If it is, press the power button to wake up the computing unit.
If there is still no display, please re-plug in the glasses and make sure the glasses are close to your eyes.
Q: Why does the glasses only show a blank Android screen?
A: Please try to plug in the glasses again.
And please make sure to the order of use is correct: open the computing unit first and then plug in the glasses. The order cannot be reversed.
Q: Why I cannot see all the icons in the virtual space?
A: Since the home screen is displayed in the space, you may be too close to the screen if cannot see the full of it. Please try to move a few steps back.
Or the height of the your nose pads might not be very suitable, you can try other nose pads to get the best view.
Q: Is there any hurt on my eyes using the MR glasses?
A: We use a technology similar to the projector. The light will not hit your eyes directly, and there is no harm on your eyes.
Q: Why the RGB camera of my glasses cannot be open?
A: Please confirm whether the connection between the USB cable of the glasses and the computing unit is stable. If it is loose, the RGB camera might fail to open.
In addition, it can be confirmed by connecting a Windows system computer with a Type-c cable. Turn on the computer camera, and you can switch it to the glasses camera for a check. Also, you need to turn off the "Power Saving Mode" in Nebula.
Q: Why the temperature of my glasses is getting higher after a use for a while?
A: To make the glasses more compact, we placed most of the chips at the forehead area of the glasses. Getting warm is a normal phenomenon during a long-time operation of the glasses. If you feel the temperature of the glasses is getting higher, stop using it and wait for a few minutes until the temperature drops. In order to improve the user experience, we will continue to optimize the heating problem.
Q: Why is there a screen in only one direction?
A: This is a combination of SLAM technology (Simultaneous locolization and mapping) and AR technology. In reality, the virtual object is projected in an exact position in the space. You can look around it or take a closer look.
Q: How many display modes of the glasses?
A: There are two modes supported on the glasses, Air Casting Mode and MR Mode.
Q: What is the focal length of the RGB camera on the glasses?
A: 2 meters.
Q: What is the resolution of the RGB camera?
A: 1280*720, 30fps.
Computing Unit/Controller
Q: What is the meaning of different colors of the controller light?
A: Here is a summary of the status of the controller light:
- Green light flashes: waiting for the computing unit to connect;
- Steady green light: connected, not in charging status, with power more than 33%;
- Green and red lights flash alternately: connected, not in charging status, with current power less than 33%;
- Blue light flashing: connected, under charging at the time, battery is not full;
- Steady blue light: connected, under charging and the current battery is full already.
Q: How can I power on the controller?
A: First, please make sure that the controller has already been turned on (the switch located at the back side), and also check whether the indicator light is on.
If the indicator does not light up, please put the controller on the computing unit, charge it for 10 minutes, and then try again.
Q: How to find/reset the laser?
A: Long press the place where the light is on on the controller, the laser can be reset.
Q: What should I do if the controller indicator light keeps flashing in green and cannot be connected with the computing unit?
A: Please try to follow the steps below:
- Before powering on, please keep the glasses, computing unit and controller as separate;
- Turn on the computing unit and the controller. At this time, the light on the controller will flash in green. Please wait for the indicator light on the computing unit to change from flashing to steady;
- Plug in the glasses, then you will see an opening animation. After it, the handle light should be stayed in green or alternately flashing in red and green. At this time, the laser of the handle can be seen in the space and can follow the move of the controller.
- If the light on controller is still flashing in green, please plug out the glasses, place the controller on the computing unit, and re-plug in the glasses again. After waiting for 5 seconds, the indicator light of the controller should change to flashing blue or a steady in green, which means that the controller has been successfully connected to the computing unit.
Q: What is the meaning of different colors of the light on the computing unit?
A:
- When not charging:
- Powering on: green light increasing regularly;
- Powered on: light in pink; power less than or equal to 33%;
- Power between 33%-66%: two green lights
- Power more than 66%: three green lights
- Standby: light in blue
- Shutting down: green light decreasing regularly
- When charging:
- Power less than or equal to 33%: single green light flashing.
- Power between 33%-66%: the second light flashes green
- Power between 66%-99%: the third light flashes in green
- Sleep after fully charged: three blue lights
Q: How to check the software version of the computing unit?
A: After connecting to the Windows computer (you might need a type-C adapter), please use scrcpy and the computer will show an Android interface. Check the version information using the following process: settings-System-About phone-Build Number Information, you can see the version information as below examples:
Q: How to upgrade the computing unit?
A: When the computing unit is connected to the glasses and a WiFi, it will automatically process an OTA upgrade (if there is newer version). At that time, the user can see a progress bar through the glasses.
Q: How to get wifi connection on the computing unit?
A: After connecting to the Windows computer (you might need a type-C adapter), please use scrcpy and the computer will show an Android interface. Just set Wifi in setting-Network&Internet-WiFi.
Q: What is the function of the Micro-USB?
A: It cannot be used for the connection with the mobile phone. But the other functions are the same as a Type-C interface; We recommended to use the Type-C interface to connect the computing unit with the computer.
Q: How long could the battery support?
A: The duration of use may vary depending on specific user scenario (the power of the computing unit is 7000 mAh).
Q: Why can't OTA be upgraded? How to upgrade OTA?

A: Please refer to: https://nreal.gitbook.io
Q: How to authorize after opening my app for the first time?
A: Please refer to: https://nreal.gitbook.io
Q: Why the plane detection fails?
A: It may be because the OV580 camera was not successfully upgraded, please try to upgrade it;
In addition, if the color of the plane is too single, it will not be conducive to plane recognition.
Q: How to change the display mode while using computing unit with the glasses?
A: The computing unit only supports MR mode currently.
Q: Are iOS and Android supported?
A: Currently, we only support Android.
Q: Does it support running 2D apps in the Stereo mode?

A: Need to use NRSDK 1.4.8.
Q: How to use the first-person perspective to record the 3D App I developed?
A: After the 3D App is developed, you need to use the interface provided on the developer's website to develop a screen projection application tool, and connect to an external device for screen projection.In addition, the "Power-Saving" mode in Nebula needs to be turned off.
Q:Where to get the natvie sdk download?
A: You could download the NRSDK from our official website https://developer.nreal.ai/download, and we'll upgrade a new version SDK in the near future.
Q:How do I record the audio through Nreal Light built in microphones?
A: The audio recording feature is now available in SDK version 1.6.0. You need to turn off the "Power-Saving" mode in Nebula. Please refer to: https://nrealsdkdoc.readthedocs.io/en/v1.6.0/Docs/Unity_EN/Develop/VideoCapture.html
Developing
Q: Is plane detection working? Can we use phones for testing?
A: Yes, you can also use an emulator.
The plane detection is working in the SDK, but it can not distinguish between different types of planes. In addition, adding feature points around placing virtual objects can improve tracking quality.
